Designed around your home

Different rooms. Different demands.

Bedrooms

Overnight comfort depends on airflow directed away from the bed and sensible indoor and outdoor sound levels. Position, controls and the chosen model all matter; no system is completely silent.

Home offices

Computers, people and sun through glazing all add to a room’s cooling load. We look at your working hours and desk position so capacity and airflow suit the space, rather than choosing on floor area alone.

Garden rooms

Glazing, insulation and distance from the house all influence suitability. We check the electrical supply, outdoor-unit location, pipework route and condensate drainage before any equipment is chosen.

Garage gyms

Exercise, occupancy and a less-insulated building change the load. Ventilation is considered separately from cooling, along with mounting space, access and your hours of use.

The right arrangement

One room or a connected home?

Single split · one room

One indoor unit connected to one outdoor unit is a practical starting point for a bedroom, office or garden room. We agree capacity, unit positions, pipework and drainage for that particular space.

Multi-split · several rooms

Several compatible indoor units connect to a shared outdoor unit. Room-by-room loads, simultaneous demand, controls and manufacturer limits all need checking. Fewer outdoor units doesn’t automatically mean a simpler or cheaper installation.

Cooling bedrooms, living rooms and home offices

Room size, glazing, insulation, occupancy and equipment all affect the cooling load. Choosing a unit on floor area alone can overlook a sunny room or a heavily used home office.

We’ll agree the indoor unit position, the outdoor unit, noise considerations and where condensate can drain. Pipework routes and access are settled before installation.

Installation choices and practical checks

A split system connects an indoor unit to an outdoor unit. Planning restrictions, lease conditions and electrical supply requirements may need checking for your property.

Many modern systems provide heating as well as cooling. Suitability and performance depend on the equipment and its operating conditions, so we don’t quote fixed running-cost savings.

Servicing and maintenance

Filters, airflow, drainage and operating condition all affect performance. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance and get in touch if you notice unusual noises, leaks or reduced cooling.

Refrigerant work is regulated under F-Gas rules. JJP Plumbing & Heating is REFCOM-registered as a business, and Jacob holds an individual F-Gas qualification, so refrigerant handling on your system is carried out by a qualified engineer.

What to tell us

Your postcode, how the room is used and its dimensions, glazing, preferred indoor and outdoor unit locations, the number of rooms and any existing system model. Send your details and postcode and we’ll arrange the right visit.

Common questions

Should I choose a single split or multi-split system?

A single split serves one indoor unit from one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several compatible indoor units to a shared outdoor unit. The right choice depends on room loads, simultaneous use, outdoor space and manufacturer limits; neither is automatically best.

Can you assess a garden room or garage gym?

Yes. Share the room dimensions, insulation, glazing, how it’s used and your postcode. The survey considers the electrical supply, indoor and outdoor mounting, pipe routes and condensate drainage; an outbuilding isn’t automatically suitable.

Does air conditioning replace ventilation?

A typical split system mainly recirculates room air rather than supplying fresh air. Ventilation and indoor air quality are separate considerations, particularly in an occupied home office or gym.

Will I need permission for the outdoor unit?

It depends on the property, location and installation. Check the applicable planning rules, lease or landlord permissions and any restrictions before proceeding.

Who can legally work on the refrigerant?

Refrigerant handling requires F-Gas certification. JJP Plumbing & Heating is REFCOM-registered as a business and Jacob holds an individual F-Gas qualification, so your refrigerant work is covered by a qualified engineer.

What should I consider before installation?

Indoor and outdoor unit locations, room cooling demand, pipework, drainage and the electrical supply all matter, along with any property permissions or restrictions.

Can you service an existing unit?

Yes. Provide the make and model and describe any poor airflow, leakage, unusual noise or reduced cooling so we can arrange the right work.

Can air conditioning heat as well as cool?

Many split systems offer heating and cooling. We’ll confirm the selected model’s operating range and suitability for your rooms; running costs and performance depend on the equipment, the building and the conditions.
